PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Hi all and welcome to getting back to normality. We are thankful that we are still able to play golf and welcome new players. At a recent golf committee meeting various issues were discussed and I will cover these below.
Slow Play:
Over the years we have regularly addressed the issue of slow play. Again this has been raised and discussed by the committee, with the aim to use a set of simple guidelines to assist in helping players of all standards get through the game in a reasonable time. Peter Kennedy has put together a draft proposal of suggested improvements. The committee will again discuss this or any other suggestions at the next committee meeting. Please feel free to discuss any ideas on ways to improve slow play with Peter, myself or any of the committee members.
September Golf Weekend:
Our weekend of golf for 2021 will remain at the same times and dates as previously informed by Terry. We are considering changing the date for 2022, moving forward by one or two weeks. The reason being that if we move the date away from the school holidays, the accommodation costs might be a bit more bearable. Further updates will be provided over the coming months.
Non attendance player fine:
Over numerous years our group has had a policy of passing on a $5 penalty for players not giving sufficient notice when withdrawing from a game. At the recent committee meeting it was agreed that this charge would no longer be applied and this would take effect from January 2021. Any players having paid a penalty for either of the first two games of 2021 are entitled to a refund.
BBQ and Presentation:
It was agreed that a bbq and presentation be held at our March Auburn game. We are encouraging players to socialise after each game and the bbq’s are a great way for us to catch up with each other. Please hang around after the game.
Presentation:
The presentation after each game day will now be the prize winners from the previous game. This will save any confusion and rush for the scorers. And should shorten the day.
Please lock in Golf for Sunday May 30. This is the Charity Fund raising golf day organised by Denis Collins. Keep an eye out for further notice.
If anyone has any suggestions on ways to make the golf days more enjoyable, please feel free to discuss with any of the committee members. Thanks to everyone for their continued support of the club.
Yours truly,
Bernie Freeburn
NEW PLAYER
LACHLAN WADDELL was a new player who we welcomed at WOODVILLE. LACHLAN is a friend of DEAN SERRA who has introduced him to the DOOLEY’s Social Golf Club. We hope LACHLAN enjoyed his outing with us and will become a regular DOOLEY golfer and will also bring his friends along to play with us. LACHLAN is down to play with us today. So once again welcome and we hope to continue to see you at our golf outings.
