We came close to getting a game in at our last game in at Auburn Golf Course. We had 18 brave starters hoping the course would be in reasonable condition. Unfortunately, the course was sloppy and unplayable in parts. Twelve players played out the eighteen holes and the day will not be recorded as an official game. We are fortunate that the weather is promising for this coming weekend.

As previously mentioned, we will not be playing for our perpetual trophies for the remainder of the year, due to the number of games being lost to weather.

Our competition for this Woodville game will be a “2 ball best ball”. On the scorecard you will have a playing partner. Basically you still play your individual game scoring stableford. On the scorecard you will record each playing partners individual stableford score and in a third column record the highest of the two scores. If both players scores are the same, record that score.

There will be the usual nearest the pins and drive and pitches.

Bruce Farquhar has submitted a report / update on our September weekend of golf at Muswellbrook (see below). Bruce and Pete Kennedy have been busy over the last few weeks preparing for the weekend. Thanks to both of you for your efforts. If you are still interested in joining us for the weekend, please see Bruce or Pete today.

This week’s Game is at Woodville at 6.30am. This is our Captains Trophy game and our captain Eddie Habib has elected to have this as a putting competition. So please record all of your putts separately.

This also is the qualifying game for the Terry Kenny Trophy (Treasurers Trophy)

Due to the washout of the last few games, we have had to limit the players for this competition due to the amount of months remaining in the year. The first eight (8) best players today will play in the Match Play competition over the coming months.

Dear Golfers,
It has been a difficult year to get a game of golf in and all going well we will get a game this Saturday. Unfortunately carts won't be available, so six of our regular players will miss out on a game. These players are most welcome to come down and have a chat after the game. Auburn Golf course is soft in parts, so make sure you bring a spare pair of socks. We will be playing for our usual prizes on the day. At our recent golf committee meeting, it was agreed that all perpetual trophies / competitions not be contested due to the limited games remaining. But it is our aim to have different competitions on each day, just to keep a bit of fun happening.
There won't be a bbq, raffle or drinks available at this Auburn game, so please bring your own snacks and drink.
Also there won't be a Divots newsletter for this month as there is little news to report.
IMPORTANT: Please contact Bruce Farqhuar regarding the September golf weekend at Muswellbrook. If you haven't yet made a booking, time is running out. We intend on finalising numbers in the next few weeks.
Thanks everyone for your continued support of the golfing group and we hope to get back into some sort of normality in the near future.
Please see attached draw for this Saturday.
Yours truly,
Bernie Freeburn
