Today is once again a stroke event. It is the second round of the Club Championships. Have a great day, keep smiling and enjoy your golfing. Let us hope it does not turn out as cold and blustery as it did at our last outing.

CAPTAIN’S TROPHY
We had thirty-one (31) players at AUBURN. Only twenty-even (27) players competed for the EDDIE HABIB Captain’s Trophy. The first group comprising JENNY DELANEY, TERRY KENNY, GARRY MITCHELL and JOHN SLATER were not told and forgot that today was the Captain’s Trophy Day and they must count their putts. Consequently, they did not count their putts. It did not matter, the nearest place getter finished 19th.
Only two putts separate the first four players. The remainder of the field could of have whistled, “DIXIE” all day long and they would still not of have made an impression.
BERNIE FREEBURN with 27 putts prevailed to win this much sort after trophy. DENIS COLLINS and KIERAN JACKSON were the runner ups just an agonising missed putt away. Two putts off the pace was MATTHEW JENKINS. The number of putts you had were:-
1. BERNIE FREEBURN 27 Putts 15. CAMERON FINN 35 Putts
2. DENIS COLLINS 28 Putts 16. STUART HURLEY 35 Putts
3. KIERAN JACKSON 28 Putts 17. MICHAEL ALCHIN 36 Putts

COMMITTEE MEETING
There will be a Committee Meeting on Monday 19th July at 7.30 pm at DOOLEYS Lidcombe Catholic Club.
HANDICAPPING to SPEED UP the GAME
There is a proposal to vary our handicapping system.
The Golf Club committee is proposing a trial, to vary our handicapping system, with a view to enhancing your enjoyment on the golf course and providing more opportunity for prizes across the entire group. At the same time, we hope that there will be an added impact of speeding up our games which have been a matter of concern over time.
You may be asked to participate in one of several groups, over the next few months to experiment, refine and develop an idea that will satisfy our needs.
If you are asked to participate in the experiment, you will be guided through the process, hole by hole, by either BERNIE FREEBURN or PETER KENNEDY.
Your feedback will enable us to develop the idea to the satisfaction of everyone.
We anticipate that we would start the new system at the beginning of our 2022 season.
GOLF DINNER
LAST YEAR the ANNUAL GOLF DINNER had to be CANCELLED because of COVID
THIS YEAR it was CANCELLED due to INSUFFICIENT SUPPORT
ONLY 21 PEOPLE INDICATED their WILLINGNESS to ATTEND
FOR the CLUB to SET up the ROOM and PROVIDE the MEAL
AN ATTENDANCE of 30 PLUS is REQUIRED to make IT ECONOMICAL for the CLUB
NEXT DAY
FAIRFIELD 24TH JULY 7.00 am 1ST Tee
STABLEFORD EVENT
2ND PETER ROSS TROPHY
FUN - FUND RAISING GOLF DAY
DISAPPOINTINGLY this DAY had to be CANCELLED
DUE TO
LACK of PARTICIPANTS
I am told only ten people indicated a willingness to take part for this worthy cause.
It is disappointing for DENIS who does so much for these orphanages.
EVERYONE can still support this CHARITABLE cause by MAKING A DONATION through the DONATION BOX.
Thank You

TREASURER’S TROPHY
In the first round the handicap for DAVID FINN was recorded as 23 instead of 34. JENNY CLARKE was shown as winning the match 4 and 3. When realised, it was assumed that DAVID would have won the match. When the cards were reviewed it was found that JENNY CLARKE had still won the match 2 Up. Sorry for all the confusion. JENNY then had to play STUART HURLEY. Although drawn together they still played against each other as per the draw. The result of the match is as shown.

WE ARE YOUNG - BUT SOME OF US ARE AGING
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN
YOU ARE GROWING OLD?
Everything hurts – what doesn’t hurt, doesn’t work.
The gleam in your eye is the sun glinting on your bifocals.
You feel like the morning after, but haven’t been anywhere.
Your little black book only contains names ending with M. D.
You get winded playing cards.
Your children begin to look middle- aged.
You join a health club but don’t go.
A dripping tap causes an uncontrollable urge.
You know all the answers but nobody asks the questions.
You look forward to a dull evening.
You need glasses to find your glasses.
You turn out the light for economy, instead of romance.
You sit in a rocking chair but can’t make it go.
Your knees buckle but your belt won’t.
Your back goes out more than you do.
You put your bra on back to front and it fits better.
Your house is too big and your medicine chest not big enough.
You sink your teeth into a steak and they stay there.
Your birthday cake collapses under the weight of the candles.
