This Saturday our game will be played at Auburn Golf Course at 6.12am. Again we will be playing stableford.

Our next golf game will be at Woodville golf course on November 12 at 6.00am.

NEW PLAYERS

If anyone knows of any friends or relatives interested in a game, please invite them along. We are not looking for great golfers, just people willing to have a bit of fun with friendly people. Please spread the word.

Reminder for golf days

Once player nominations are confirmed one week before play. Groups are sorted with numerous considerations taken into account. Examples being pairing players in carts, matching new players with experienced players, trying to accommodate players needing to leave early. Once we lock the draw in, it is important that all players arrive on time and are ready to play in their allocated groups. If for any reason you cannot play - sickness or an urgent matter arises, could you please ring or text Bernie on 0412 227 554. Preferably this would be done by the Friday prior to the game. Please try and assist with this request.

MUSWELLBROOK SEPTEMBER WEEKEND REPORT

The weekend was a great success, with us achieving several goals – being affordable and fun. Most of our group arrived throughout the Friday and settled into our comfortable Motel accommodation across the road from the golf course. We then ventured to the golf club for dinner and drinks.

On Saturday we woke up to cloudy skies and showers, but fortunately we weren’t hitting off till midday. By midday the weather cleared and all 17 golfers managed a pleasant round. Scoring was difficult due to the ground being soggy and the course playing so long.

After a quick shower, it was back to the club for our dinner. We had 33 people attend dinner and the meals were very good.  We were fortunate again to have Dooleys club chairman – John Munce and his wife Kay in attendance. The lucky door prizes were shared around and the days winners were presented with prizes. The adjusted handicaps were read and well accepted.

We started Sunday’s golf with a 7am start. The weather was terrific and with adjustments made to some holes being shortened. It made the day a bit more competitive and fun. The course was in good condition considering the rain that had fallen the week before. We were grateful that the pro shop allowed us to play with carts as it was borderline whether this could be done.

After golf we had a bbq at the course, followed by presentations. A big thankyou to Adam Pemble for being the cook for the day and thankyou to all the wives that helped also. There was a great spirit amongst the group for the whole weekend and thanks to those that helped wherever needed.

FUNNY BITS

I was working in Army security when a VIP from another base called to ask to whom he should address an important letter. Knowing my tough-to-spell last name would give him fits, I said, “Just put down Sergeant Gary, as my last name is too hard.”The next day, I received a letter addressed to Sgt. Gary Toohard.

Words of Inspiration

I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. –Michael Jordan
