This Saturday our game will be played at Auburn Golf Course at 6.00am.  We will be playing a team event – the four/three person Ambrose. Our aim is to make this a fun day and not take things too serious.

This being our last game, traditionally we each bring a gift to the value of $15 to $20 and share the gifts at the end of the day.

Our next golf game will be at Sefton golf course on February 4 at 8.50am

AMBROSE EVENT FOR TODAY

Garry Mitchell is organising todays event. Each team captain will be given a copy of the rules. Please follow these rules and apply them consistently. There will be many ntp’s and d+p’s.

NEW PLAYERS

We are still looking for new players. If anyone knows of any friends or relatives interested in a game, please invite them along.

Reminder for golf days

If for any reason you cannot play and you are listed in the draw – and sickness or an urgent matter arises, could you please ring or text Bernie on 0412 227 554. Preferably this would be done by the Friday prior to the game. Please try and assist with this request.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

We will be holding our AGM on Tuesday January 24, 2023 at 7.30pm at Dooleys Regents Park We would encourage as many of our players to attend and contribute. Our annual election will be held on this night.

TROPHY’S AND COMPETITION WINNERS

As previously mentioned there will be no perpetual trophy winners this year. Largely due to the five games washed out. We hope that next year allows to get back into normality.

APPRECIATION AND RECOGNITION

This year marks the end of an era for two people that have served our golf club extremely well and they will be long remembered for their efforts.

TERRY KENNY: I have heard many times people say that there will never be another Terry Kenny – so true. His work ethic and commitment to this club have been second to none. Rain, hail or shine for over 50 years, Terry has been there and given his best wherever he was needed. Terry has quietly stepped away from playing golf this year and has handed over the reigns of Treasury to Rob Ryan. Terry’s efforts as treasurer over the many years has left us in a sound financial position. I would hope that Terry will still attend any social gatherings we have in the future and thank and wish Beth and Terry all the best for the future.

DENIS COLLINS: Another hard working contributor to our club over many years. Denis has worn many hats, handicapper, Association golf organiser, game day organiser and committee person. Denis’s generosity and willingness to encourage others are the highlights of his character. Denis also is quietly stepping away from his commitments to our group and we wish to acknowledge all the good things he has done for us and hope to see him at future golf weekends or social events.

OUR PLAYERS

A big thankyou to you, all our players that have persevered playing with us in this unpredictable era of weather and covid. It has been tough to get into any sort of routine, but we hope for better years ahead.

OUR COMMITTEE

Thankyou to all our committee members for their efforts in supporting the club and willingness to pitch in where needed. With special mentions to Garry Mitchell for the trailer pickup and return for each game and Bruce Farqhuar for organising the food for each game and Rick Clifford in organising drinks for each game.

OUR CHEFS

One of the most important jobs on our game days, is getting the sausages cooked right and ready when the hungry golfers come through. Margaret Bentley and Val Kennedy haven’t let us down, they have been terrific. We thank both of you for volunteering your time on a Saturday morning to feed us all.

FUNNY BITS

A British man is visiting Australia. The customs agent asks him, “Do you have a criminal record?” The British man replies, “I didn’t think you needed one to get into Australia any more.”
