This Saturday is our first game for 2023 and will be played at Sefton Golf Course at 8.50am.  We will be playing a team event – a two person best ball. Our aim is to make this a fun day.

The two ball best ball is a stableford event, with both the individual stableford scores recorded and the best one of the two scores recorded in a separate column for the team.

Our next golf game will be at Woodville golf course on February 25 at 6.30am.

AGM REPORT:

Thanks to all those that were able to attend our Annual General Meeting. It was a good rollup. We were honoured to have Dooleys Chairman John Munce and his wife Kaye. Also present was our club patron and Board member Tony Khoury.

Our elected committee for 2023 is:

PRESIDENT: Bernie Freeburn

SECRETARY: Sue Delaney

TREASURER: Rob Ryan

COMMITTEE MEMBERS: Peter Kennedy, Bruce Farqhuar, Eddie Habib, Garry Mitchell, Kieran Jackson.

HANDICAPPER: Adam Welton

GOLF CAPTAIN: Eddie Habib

SPORTS COUNCIL: Peter Kennedy and Garry Mitchell

5 STAR CHEFS: Margaret Bentley and Val Kennedy

Congratulations to all and hope everyone can contribute to a great year.

If any of our members have suggestions on how we can improve as a group, please feel free to discuss with any of the committee members. Also if there is anything that we are doing that doesn’t make sense, please feel free to ask. Sometimes we do things and just assume that everyone knows why.

WEEKEND OF GOLF 2023.

This year we might be trying somewhere new. More details in the next edition of Divots. In the meantime, if anyone wishes to start paying towards the weekend away. For example - if you were to pay $25 per game from now till August, you would have paid $200. This would cover a large chunk of accommodation for the weekend.

Annual Trophies / competitions

The committee will be discussing over the coming weeks the makeup of the competitions and hopefully come up with a good plan, considering covid and bad weather have hindered the last two years.

DONATION JAR

Again this year you will find the donation jar next the Delaney girls after golf. All proceeds will go to the children’s eye hospital at Westmead. Any loose change will be gratefully accepted.

FUNNY CORNER

"You are late for golf again Dave."

"Yes, well being a Sunday, I had to toss a coin to see if I should go to church or go and play golf."

"Okay, but why are you so late?"

Dave: "I had to toss it 20 times!"

Golf balls are like eggs. They are both white, sold by the dozen, and a week later you have to go out and buy more.
