Drinks

We try hard to keep our drinks costs down, however we have noticed from time to time that the money taken and the drinks used do not correspond. Could you please ensure that if you take a drink, you pay for it – it is easy to forget. The list to record your name is near the BBQ for halfway golf and we always have somebody at the end of the game to collect drink money.

GOLF DINNER - 2024 AGM and 2023 PRESENTATION NIGHT

Given its increasing size, the Dooleys Parent Club has decided to discontinue the Annual Sports Council Nights and instead provide function rooms for the Intraclubs to hold presentation nights (including funding trophies and prizes).

The committee feels that this presents a great opportunity to combine our annual golf dinner, AGM and presentation into one night of celebrations.

The Golf dinner (including 2024 AGM and 2023 presentation night) will be held at:

DOOLEYS LIDCOMBE (BANKSIA ROOM) on THURSDAY 25 JANUARY at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.

Cost is $50 per person (payable on the night).

Menu is similar to previous years and consists of platters of food being served for each course. The menu is as follows:

Mains

Roast Pork

Penne Primavera

Beef Stroganoff

Dessert

Petit fours

Drinks will be available for purchase at the bar.

The rough run sheet for the night will be as follows:

6pm - Event opens

6.30pm - AGM starts

7pm - Start mains

7.45pm - Presentation

8.15pm - Tea/Coffee and Petit fours

The winners of the perpetual trophies will be presented with a take home trophy and a $50 F&B voucher on the night. The perpetual trophies are currently being arranged for engraving. If they are not available on the night then they will be available in the Club for inspection.

It is also an opportunity to thank our volunteers and committee members for their contributions during the year.

All Golfers and friends are invited to attend. We will be taking names on the weekend.

We will also be extending personal invites to the winners of the perpetual trophies, the named persons (or next of kin) on each of the perpetual trophies, former players and the Board of the Club.

I am sure that it will be a great night and I am looking forward to sharing many golfing stories on the night.

RECOGNITION AND THANKS

Many thanks to the following people for their efforts throughout the year.

  • Our Handicapper– Adam Welton. Even though we don’t see much of Adam, we appreciate all the efforts Adam does on a regular basis adjusting handicaps. Even if we don’t like handicap given. Adam’s system is very fair.
  • Our BBQ trailer organiser– Garry Mitchell. On golf days Garry arrives at Dooley’s Lidcombe to pick up the trailer whilst most of us are getting out of bed. He arrives at the golf course ready to set up before golf. After golf Gary packs up the trailer and returns it to the club whilst most of us sitting down to a cool drink at home. Garry also picks up the ice for our drinks.
  • Our food organiser and Weekend of Golf organiser– Bruce Farquhar. Bruce organises and picks up sausages, bread, onion and butter prior to each Saturday game. Bruce also has done a great job organising our golf weekends away. Many phone calls, emails and conversations have been required to organise, dinners, accommodation, golf tee times and carts.
  • Our Treasurer– Rob Ryan. Rob has been busy balancing the books and has improved the way the reporting is done to our Parent club Dooley’s. Our finances are in safe hands.
  • Our Cooks– Margaret Bentley and Val Kennedy. Both of these ladies have volunteered their Saturday mornings to cook a top BBQ meal for us. It is great to be greeted with a smiling face, particularly when you are having an ordinary day on the course. Margaret has decided to hang up the tongs and unfortunately won’t be cooking for us in 2024. Please thank Margaret today as she will be spending more time with the grandkids. If you know of anyone interested in helping with the cooking in 2024, please let Bernie Know.
  • Our drinks organiserKieran Jackson. Kieran tallies and purchases the drinks for each game. Ensuring we have a good selection of drinks available.
  • Our SecretarySue Delaney. Sue is our main means of communication. Sue organises future games and tee times, individual player info emails, divots and golf draw distribution.
  • Our Golf day money collector– Jenny Delaney. Jenny is well organised in tallying playing numbers and payments. She somehow manages to balance the books every time.
  • Our Golf day Captain– Eddie Habib. Eddie has been our Captain for the last three years. He hasn’t had too many difficulties, but has been reliable and a willing contributor.
  • Our Committee– Rob Ryan, Sue Delaney, Garry Mitchell, Kieran Jackson, Eddie Habib, Bruce Farquhar. Our committee met regularly and were very supportive in looking for improvements to be made. I have been appreciative of their assistance and support.

Finally, Thanks to all our golfers for regularly attending games and keeping the fun in golf. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.

Bernie Freeburn
