RON JOHNSTONE suffered a massive heart attack and passed away on the morning of Christmas Day 2017.

In the early day’s RON was a regular player with the DOOLEY golfers. RON was introduced to the DOOLEY golfers by ALEC CHATILLON his father-in-law in April 1972. RON attended 147 games with us and was the ”A” Grade champion for a number of years. He played regularly with us until June 1988 and attended a game in 1990 and 1992.

RON was a real character, a rough diamond, a great guy, a trusted friend, a true Protestant which he constantly reminded us Catholics of and a loyal supporter of the Golf Club.

Six (6) Johnstone’s and five (5) Chatillon’s played golf with the DOOLEYS in those early years. Three former players Max Garland, Mick Rogers and Rod Clare who I did know but failed to recognise also attended RON’S farewell. Alec is now 92 and in reasonably good health.

Please remember RON, his wife Lorraine and his sons Reece and Cory and their families in your thoughts and prayers.
