NEW PLAYER’S
Last month we welcomed two players TROY NEWALL and DAVID QUINELL. TROY is a friend of KIERAN JACKSON. DAVID is a friend of another new player MATTHEW JENKINS who was invited to our games by JACOB PEMBLE. It is great to see new players invited to our Social Golf Days by the new players. TROY and DAVID we hope you enjoyed your day with us and that you will become regular members of our Golf Club.

GOLF DINNER
Our annual dinner is being held on Saturday 2nd June
It will be held at the DOOLEYS Club at WATERVIEW at 7 for 7.30 pm
Cost will be similar to last year as will be the menu which consisted of platters of food being served for each course.

CAPTAIN’S TROPHY
Today we play for ANNA RYAN’s trophy that is the CAPTAIN’s TROPHY. Once again this will be a putting contest. Players are requested to record all your putts on the putting green for each hole. The player with the least number of putts will be declared the winner provided the player is eligible. If there is tie then the player with the highest Stableford score will be the winner.
GOLF SHIRTS & GOLF BADGES
The Golf Club has its own Golf Shirts and Golf Badges.
Prices are subsidised by the club.
GOLF SHIRTS $15 GOLF BADGES $5
Each member is expected to wear the Golf Shirt and Badge.
Badges are replaced by MILESTONE Bars when due.
TREASURER’S TROPHY
Unfortunately four (4) players drawn to play in this event failed to attend the game. The three reserves all got a game. JUDY BARTHOLOMEW became unwell after four holes and had to forfeit her game. DENIS COLLINS and STUART HURLEY also won their matches by forfeit. Four matches were all decided on the 18th hole.
Results of all the matches were:-
1. ROBERT RYAN (15) Vs 32. KIERAN JACKSON (42). KIERAN lost the first hole but won the second. The same routine happen with the next two holes. KIERAN then won the fifth, halved the sixth and eighth but ROBERT won the seventh and ninth to lead 1 UP at the turn. KIERAN squared the match by winning the tenth. He then lost the next two holes before winning the next hole but then lost the following hole to be 2 DOWN with four holes to play. ROBERT was able to halve the fifteenth but lost the sixteenth before halving the next two holes to win the MATCH 1 UP.
17. MATTHEW JENKINS (P22) Vs 16. AUBREY SYMES (16). On the front nine holes 6 and 8 were all even. MATTHEW won holes 6 and 9 but AUBREY won the other five holes to lead 3 UP at the halfway point. On the homeward run MATTHEW lost holes 10, 12 and 13 with the 11th hole being halved enabling AUBREY to win the MATCH 6 and 5 .
9. IAN BARBER (37) Vs 24. MARGARET KAIN (44). On the front nine IAN was very strong. MARGARET won holes 6 and 8 but IAN won the other seven holes to be 5 UP at the turn. IAN was 6 UP after the tenth but MARGARET was able to halve the next two holes before losing the thirteenth enabling IAN to win the MATCH 7 and 5.
28. JENNY FREEBURN (33) Vs 5. BERNIE FREEBURN (13). A true grudge match between the wife and the husband. Will the husband be brave enough to win. In an even front nine four holes finished all square, JENNY won holes 2 and 5 and BERNIE won holes 1, 3 and 7 to lead 1 UP before the run home. Holes 10 and 12 were halved but BERNIE won holes 11, 13, 14 and 15 to claim the MATCH 5 and 3.
7. ROBERT FINN (37) Vs 26. DAVID FINN (34). Another grudge match between the son and his dad. However, neither player attended. They were replaced by:-
34. STEVE WARCZAK (45) Vs 35. STEPHEN WOODS (15). On the front nine holes 5 and 9 were all square. STEVE won the 2nd hole but STEPHEN won the remaining six holes to take a 5 UP lead into the homeward nine. STEVE began strongly by winning the first two holes on the back nine, then he lost the next but won the 13th to be 3 down with five holes to play. STEVE lost the 14th but won the 15th to maintain status quo with three to play. They squared the next hole allowing STEPHEN to win the MATCH 3 and 2.
22. DENIS COLLINS (17) Vs 12. GILBERT KIM (P22). DENIS won this MATCH by forfeit. GILBERT failed to attend the day.
14. WAYNE SELFRIDGE (29) Vs 19. BRUCE FARQUHAR (29). On the outward run the first hole was squared. WAYNE won holes 2 and 6 but the remaining six holes were won by BRUCE. BRUCE turned the corner with a strong 4 UP advantage. BRUCE won the tenth. Holes 11, 13 and 14 were halved. WAYNE won holes 12 and 15 to be 3 DOWN with three holes remaining. The next hole was halved allowing BRUCE to win the MATCH 3 and 2.
30. MICHAEL LENART (21) Vs JACOB PEMBLE (13). This was another extremely tight game. JACOB began strongly by winning the first four holes. The following two holes, honours were shared. JACOB won the 7th but MICHAEL began a fight back by winning the last two holes on the front nine. JACOB continued the fight back by winning the 10th and 11th holes, sharing the 12th and winning the 13th. The match was now all square with five holes to play. JACOB won the 14th and the next two holes were halved. JACOB was 1 UP with two holes remaining. MICHAEL then won the last two holes to win the MATCH 1 UP.
4. STUART HURLEY (26) Vs 29. SHANNON FINN (43). STUART won this MATCH by forfeit. SHANNON did not attend the day.
20. JENNY DELANEY (36) Vs 13. JOHN SHANLEY (43). JENNY was unable to attend the game. So the first reserve took her place.
33. JUDY BARTHOLOMEW (35) Vs 13. JOHN SHANLEY (43). JUDY won holes 1, 3 and 4 and JOHN claimed the 2nd hole. AT this stage JUDY was unable to continue. JOHN won the MATCH on a forfeit.
11. ANNA RYAN (38) Vs 23. RICK CLIFFORD (24). Holes 3 and 5 were halved on the outward run. ANNA won holes 1, 2 and 5 but lost the remaining four holes, allowing RICK to take a slender 1 UP lead into the back nine. On this nine holes 10 and 14 were halved. RICK won holes 11, 12, 13 and 15 to be 5 up with three holes left to play. RICK won the MATCH 5 and 3.
25. MANNY CASTILLO (22) Vs 8. GARRY MITCHELL (21). MANNY was only able to win the eighth hole on the outward run. Four holes were squared. The remaining four holes namely 1, 3, 4 and 9 were won by GARRY. GARRY was 3 up at the halfway point. MANNY lost the tenth but won the eleventh. They halved the twelfth then GARRY won the next two holes to claim the MATCH 5 and 4.
6. JOHN SLATER (30) Vs 27. COL BENTLEY (44). COL was able to win holes 2 and 7 but the remaining holes except the 3rd were all won by JOHN. JOHN led 4 UP into the back nine. COL lost the tenth, halved the eleventh, won the twelfth then halved the thirteenth but then lost the fourteenth. At this stage JOHN was able to claim the MATCH 5 and 4.
23. JOHN POROPAT (17) Vs 10. EDDIE HABIB (14). On the run out EDDIE and JOHN halved holes 1, 2 and 6. JOHN won holes 3, 4, 5 and 9 while EDDIE won holes 7 and 8. At the half way point JOHN led 2 UP. EDDIE lost the first two holes on the back nine but was able to halve the twelfth hole. The next two holes were won by JOHN enabling him to win the MATCH 6 and 4.
15. SONYA LENART (44) Vs 18. ALAN THAM (28). This was a very close tussle. Holes 2 and 9 were halved on the front nine. ALAN was able to win the 2nd and 3rd holes but SONYA won the remaining five holes to take a comfortable 3 UP lead at the turn. The 10th hole was halved. SONYA won the 11th but ALAN won 12th. Honours were shared on the 13th. With five holes remaining SONYA still maintained her lead. SONYA by winning the next hole led 4 UP with four to play. ALAN then won holes 15, 16 and 17 to be 1 down with one to play. SONYA managed to win the last hole by a whisker to take the MATCH 1 UP.
31. CHARLIE SCULLY (25) Vs 2. MICHAEL ALCHIN (36). Another very close match. On the outward run holes 1, 3 and 6 were halved. CHARLIE won hole 2 and 5 but MICHAEL won holes 4, 7, 8 and 9 to be 2 UP at the turn. MICHAEL won the 19th but CHARLIE won the next two holes to be 1 down with five holes remaining. MICHAEL won the 13th but then CHARLIE won the following two holes to square the match with two holes to play. CHARLIE lost the 17th to be 1 down with one to play. Honours were shared on the last enabling MICHAEL to clinch the MATCH 1 UP.
SUNDAY GOLF DAY
A special golf day is being arranged by ADAM WELTON.
The game will be played at the GEORGE’S RIVER course.
It is on SUNDAY the 8th JULY at 8.30 am
