GOLF DINNER
The Annual Golf Dinner was held at DOOLEYS Waterview on Saturday the 2nd June. Twenty-six golfers, partners and supporters attended and according to all reports it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening with everyone enjoying the platters of food. DENIS COLLINS welcomed the attendees and ANNA RYAN and GARRY MITCHELL did the draw for the eighteen lucky door prizes. Each patron sitting at two of the four tables were fortunate enough to each win a prize.
CAPTAIN’S TROPHY
The Captain’s (ANNA RYAN) Trophy was played for at Georges River. It was for the player who had least number of putts on the day. There were 35 players and they all completed the 18 holes and recorded their putts.
EDDIE HABIB who was the winner of this trophy last year with 9 one putt and 9 two putt greens for a total of 27 putts. AMAZINGLY he has proved that his win last year was no FLUKE. EDDIE has once again recorded 27 putts, 9 one putt and 9 two putt greens the SAME NUMBER of PUTTS HE RECORDED LAST YEAR.
Last year there were three (3) runner ups only one stroke in arrears. This year the two runner-ups were two strokes behind. They were MATTHEW JENKINS and DAVID QUINELL both who are relatively new players with DOOLEYS Social Golf Club.
Next, three strokes behind the winner were BERNIE FREEBURN and JOHN SHANLEY.
It is amazing how EDDIE’S putting and for that matter his chipping has improved over the last 4 years. In 2015 he recorded 31 putts and in 2016 he recorded 35 putts. We wonder what the score will be next year.
PETER ROSS MEMORIAL TROPHY
Today we play the first round for this trophy. The trophy is awarded to the player who accumulates the most stableford points over the next three games at Woodville, Fairfield and Auburn. The winner must meet the criteria for winning a Perpetual Trophy.
ELIGIBILTY to ATTEND DOOLEY GOLF DAYS
If you are NOT A MEMBER of DOOLEYS the DOOLEYS Social Golf Club is only permitted to allow you to attend three of our regular golf outings before you MUST become a member of DOOLEYS.
A check of DOOLEYS membership indicates that three recent new players are not members of DOOLEYS. They are MATTHEW JENKINS, TROY NEWALL and DAVID QUINELL. MATTHEW has already paid his membership for the Golf Club and is refundable if he does not join DOOLEYS. We encourage these players to join DOOLEYS so that they can continue to play with us going forward.

B GRADE Hc’p 21 to 30. WILLIAM KAIN with a gross score of 88 has a four (4} stoke advantage on MATTHEW JENKINS who is 3 strokes ahead of STUART HURLEY. On handicap MATTHEW and WILLIAM are tied for the lead with a net 67 a stroke clear of STUART.
C GRADE Hc’p 31 to 38. TROY NEWALL with a gross 85 has a commanding twelve (12) stroke advantage on WAYNE SELFRIDGE with a further five (5) strokes to JENNY FREEBURN. On handicap JENNY and WAYNE are tied with a net 66 a stroke ahead of TROY.
