Today at Fairfield is the second round of the Peter Ross Memorial Trophy and it is a stableford event as well. It is also the quarter finals for the Treasurer’s Trophy. Once again there is plenty to play for, so good golfing but remember it is only a social day out.

Dooley’s Sunday Golf Day
Our first Sunday golf outing was played at Georges River Golf Course on the 8th of July.
We couldn’t have asked for a better morning. The sun was shining and it was actually quite warm for this time of year.
I was very happy with the turnout of numbers for our first Sunday game. There were 5 groups, 20 players in total. Teeing off at 8.30 on the 1st Tee. Being a Sunday morning I think all the golfers enjoyed a little sleep in and a few noted that this was a great time to start on a Sunday.
Of these 20 players, 15 were regular Dooley’s golfers, 3 hadn’t played since March 2017, 1 since April 2016 and we had ONE new player. Welcome Peter Camilleri.
As we had played here back in May most of the golfers knew their way around the course. Fairways were great; Greens rolled the way they should. Scoring became a bit harder as the wind picked up on the back nine but in all a great sunny day for golf.
The day was a Stableford event and we all played off our current Dooley’s Handicaps but don’t worry Sunday players your handicaps won’t be effected for our normal Saturday games.
On both nines we had the following games of skill.

There was only 1 marker on the 6 holes nominated so depending on what your handicap was determined how many shots you had to achieve this.

I would like to thank ALL the 20 players for making this a great day. In saying that I’m looking at trying to have 3-4 Sundays games a year ON TOP of our regular 12 Saturday games. These games won’t affect any trophy that we play for now.
I have some courses in mind already for booking for next year 2019 but if your keen to play on a Sunday and have courses that you’re interested in playing please come and speak to me over the next few games and we shall try and book them.

FORMER PLAYERS
At our last outing, we saw the return of two former players who have not attended for quite a few years. ROBYN MASON played seven (7) games with us in 2010. DAVID FAHY also played seven (7) games with us in 2004 and 2005. It was great to see ROBYN and DAVID return and have a social game with us once again. We hope both ROBYN and DAVID enjoyed their return and are able to continue to play with us in the future. It was great seeing you both once again.
ROBYN your name then was not ROBYN DYE but was then your married name MASON. My, how time marches on.
GOLF DINNER
The Annual Golf Dinner was held at DOOLEYS Waterview on Saturday the 2nd June. Twenty-six golfers, partners and supporters attended and according to all report’s it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening with everyone enjoying the platters of food. DENIS COLLINS welcomed the attendees and ANNA RYAN and GARRY MITCHELL did the draw for the eighteen lucky door prizes. Each patron sitting at two of the four tables were fortunate enough to each win a prize.

Woodville was the first round for this trophy. The trophy is awarded to the player who accumulates the most stableford points over the next three games at Woodville, Fairfield and Auburn. The winner must meet the criteria for winning a Perpetual Trophy.
After the first round, the early leader is TROY NEWALL with forty seven (47) points. TROY is a point ahead of BRUCE FARQUHAR and WAYNE SELFRIDGE. Lagging a further two points behind are MANNY CASTILLO and JOHN SLATER.
