NEW PLAYER
At Auburn we welcomed into our group a new player BLLL KAIN. BILL is a son of MARGARET’S and is a brother to PATRICK and is an uncle to WILLIAM. We have been blessed with three generations of KAIN’S having played with us. They comprise BILL Snr., MARGARET, PATRICK, NICOLA, BILL Jnr. and WILLIAM. The KAIN’S are great supporters of the DOOLEYS Social Golf Club. WE welcome BILL to our friendly group and hope he has enjoyed his golf and that he continues to play with us.
SAUSAGE SIZZLE
Today at Woodville we do not have the BBQ trailer so there will be no BBQ. However, there will be a Sausage Sizzle and the Raffle after the game. Drinks will still be available.
Garry is unavailable to take the trailer today and Ray is unable to do the cooking.
COOKS
We will be losing JOHN SHANLEY and RAY STEEDMAN within the next 12 months. They are hoping to be able to move to and reside in South West Rocks in the near future. STEVE NEWMAN is not a well person and cannot be relied upon to be able to take on the cooking role.
Over the last fifty years we have been blessed by having only six cooks do the BBQ’s for us. They have been ALF MARNEY, CLIFF STEVENSON, NORM DOYLE, JIM GRANT, KEITH VEITCH and RAY STEEDMAN/STEVE NEWMAN.
We are now in need of finding another cook (male or female) who would be willing to do our BBQ’s. They would be required to be available once a month early on a Saturday mornings from first light until 1 pm. If you know of someone who may be interested please let one of the committee know.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Three rounds of the Championships have been played and the final game will be played today. Just a reminder that the winner of each grade is determined by a players best score for three (3) rounds from the four (4) rounds played. After three games it is difficult to compare scores as a number of players are in contention but they have only played two games. The leading contenders are:
A Grade Hc’p 1 to 20. At the moment JOHN POROPAT with a gross 274 is 13 strokes ahead of PATRICK KAIN. ADAM WELTON and EDDIE HABIB are also well in contention only having played two games. On handicap JOHN leads PATRICK but EDDIE, ADAM and BERNIE FREEBURN are also vying for the lead and the handicapper winner may well come from this group.
B Grade 21 to 30. Of those who have played 3 rounds it would appear that WILLIAM KAIN has a commanding advantage over his rivals. He is 16 stroke clear of his nearest rival. His nearest rival MATTHEW JENKINS who has only played 2 games is only 83 strokes in arrears. He could easily challenge WILLIAM for the B Grade Championship. On handicap STUART HURLEY and WILLIAM are the current leaders with a net 210 but could be easily challenged for the title by MATTHEW.
C Grade 31 to 38.With a gross 293 WAYNE SELFRIDGE has a 5 stroke advantage on JOHN SLATER with another 5 strokes to BRUCE FARQUHAR. JENNY FREEBURN has only played 2 games but would need an exceptional round to challenge the two leaders to claim victory. On handicap JOHN has a strong 8 stroke advantage over WAYNE with another stroke to TROY NEWALL. JENNY has some chance of upstaging these breakaway leaders.
D Grade 39 to 54. ANNA RYAN with a gross 339 is the early leader for this championship. She leads IAN BARBER by 7 strokes. However, SUE DELANEY who has only played 2 games and has a gross 212 should provide a strong challenge for this championship. On handicap ANNA with a net 223 leads IAN by 6 strokes with a further 2 strokes to MARGARET KAIN. SUE is also well in contention with a net 135 from two games.
Scores after the first three games for eligible players are listed:
A GRADE 1 to 20.

Only twenty-one (21) players completed all three rounds for this trophy. All together forty-five players participated in one or more games. It was a Stableford event conducted over three games. The final game will be at Auburn this month. After the first round MICHAEL ALCHIN was in a tie for thirteenth but after the second game he had moved up into second position three points behind the leader WAYNE SELFRIDGE. Despite losing five strokes from his handicap he was still able to win the day at Auburn and he amassed 38 points. His total for the three games was 125 points which was 5 points ahead of JOHN SLATER. WILLIAM KAIN was another 4 points behind with another 2 points to the second round leader WAYNE SELFRIDGE.
