NEW PLAYER
DENNIS VALCICH a DOOLEYS member joined us for the first time at our last game. He had emailed me asking if he could join our social group. Of course, I replied as we are always wanting new members. We welcome DENNIS to our group and hope he has enjoyed his day and will continue playing with us. If DENNIS or for that matter if any member knows of anyone wishing to play social golf they are most welcomed to play with the DOOLEYS social Golf Club.
TREASURER’S TROPHY
The semi-finals for this trophy was played at Auburn at our last game. Both matches resulted in easy victories for the winners. The results were:
9. IAN BARBER (39) Vs 30. MICHAEL LENART (23). The first hole was won by MICHAEL but IAN won the next two holes. Holes 3 and 4 were halved. Then Michael won the next 4 holes to be 3 Up at the halfway point. On the homeward run MICHAEL won the first three holes to be 6 Up with 6 holes remaining. IAN won the following 2 holes but MICHAEL won the 15 hole to seal his victory and the MATCH 5 and 3.
21. RICK CLIFFORD (23) Vs 2. MICHAEL ALCHIN (30). The only hole halved on the front nine was the fourth. RICK won the first two holes but MICHAEL won the third and fifth holes to square the match. RICK then won the sixth and seventh holes but MICHAEL won the eighth and ninth holes for the match to be all square with 9 holes remaining. On the homeward run RICK won the first 5 holes to win the MATCH 5 and 4.
The final match will be played at our next game at Woodville. The 30th seed will play the 21st seed.

ALF MARNEY MEMORIAL TROPHY
With only one game to be played. There are only four players in contention who could win this trophy. They are MICHAEL ALCHIN, GARRY MITCHELL, WAYNE SELFRIDGE and JOHN SLATER. WAYNE will not be attending the next game. MICHAEL is 5 points ahead of GARRY and JOHN. They will have to finish in the top five to claim victory provided MICHAEL does not finish in the top ten. Progressive scores are:
Pts Pts
1. MICHAEL ALCHIN 125 6. DENIS COLLINS 112
2. GARRY MITCHELL 120 7. IAN BARBER 111
3. JOHN SLATER 120 8. FRED Mc CARTHY 110
4. WAYNE SELFRIDGE 116 9. BRUCE FARQUHAR 107
5. RICK CLIFFORD 113 10. JENNY FREEBURN 107
11. STUART HURLEY 107
DICK DIXON TROPHY
MICHAEL ALCHIN would appear to have this event in his keeping. WAYNE SELFRIDGE his nearest rival will not be at the next game. If MICHAEL does not improve on his worst round ie., 30 stableford points then his two nearest rivals STUART HURLEY and TROY NEWALL will have to have outstanding games. STUART will have to score better than 49 points and TROY will have to score better than 43 points. I would give TROY an outsiders chance but it would be extremely difficult to see STUART winning. Progress scores with the lowest score in brackets to be eliminated are:
1. MICHAEL ALCHIN 237 (30) 6. GARRY MITCHELL 222 (33)
2. WAYNE SELFRIDGE 229 (29) 7. ANNA RYAN 220 (34)
3. STUART HURLEY 223 (35) 8. DAVID QUINELL 218 (31)
4. TROY NEWALL 223 (29) 9. IAN BARBER 217 (33)
5. JOHN SLATER 223 (29) 10. RICK CLIFFORD 216 (30)
