NEW PLAYERS
At Fairfield we welcomed two new players. PETER CHOCHULA the father of ANNA RYAN, and JOHN LEE a DOOLEYS member and a friend of ALAN THAM. We hope that both PETER and JOHN have enjoyed their outing with the DOOLEYS Social Golf Club. It is hoped that they become regular DOOLEYS golfers and entice some of their male and female friends to come along with them. Welcome PETER and JOHN and we hope to see you soon.
LAST GAME
There was a slight hic-up with the handicaps. BUTIT DID NOT EFFECT THE RESULTS ON THE DAY. The June handicaps were used instead of the July handicaps. The point scores for ALL Perpetual Trophies were based on the correct JULY handicaps.
STARTING TIMES
Each golf day a DRAW is done to give players an indication of WHAT TIME they can expect to be hitting off. These times are only based on the starting times given to us by the course management at the beginning of each year.
Golfers are expected to turn up at least 15 MINUTES PRIOR to their nominated hit off time.
Often we are able to hit off prior to the NOMINATED hit off time.
So on occasions groups nominated to hit off late have not arrived in time to play when the tee is vacant. This causes extreme difficulty for the starter to arrange satisfactory groupings.
GOLFERS PLEASE ARRIVE AT LEAST 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR NOMINATED HIT-OFF TIME
SLOW PLAY ETIQUETTE
Golf etiquette says that YOU SHOULD KEEP UP WITH THE GROUP AHEAD OF YOU.
The lowest handicapper in each GROUP IS RESPONSIBLE TO MAINTAIN THIS ETIQUETTE OF GOLF
On MANY OCCASION’S groups are falling 15 to 20 minutes BEHIND THE GROUP AHEAD OF THEM
It causes GOLF DAYS to become excessively long. Six to seven hours for people responsible for starting, doing cards and golfers doing nominated jobs.
LOW MARKERS please do YOUR JOB and KEEP IN TOUCH with the group ahead
LET US ALL ENJOY OUR DAY OF SOCIAL GOLF

TREASURER’S TROPHY
The quarter-finals for this trophy produced two close results. The winner not being declared until the final hole had been played. The other two matches resulted in 5 and 4 wins to the victor. Our two lady semi-finalists both had victories and maybe we will have a lady golfer in the FINALS. From memory this would be the first time ever. Then again, we could have an ALL LADIES FINAL. Come on ladies show these pretentious MALES what golf is all about.
The results were:
23. DAVID QUINELL (21) Vs 16. STUART HURLEY (22). Although the handicaps were changed the final result was a little worst for DAVID. STUART instead of winning the first hole only managed to halve the hole. The fifth hole instead of being halved was actually won by DAVID. There were no other changes in the results on the front nine. STUART was 3 UP at the turn. Results on the homeward run remained the same only that STUART won the fourteenth hole to clinch the match 5 and 4
12. JENNY FREEBURN (35) Vs 3. BERNIE FREEBURN (12). The correct handicaps did have a major effect on the outcome of this match. Instead of there being 20 strokes the difference now there was 23 strokes the difference. Instead of halving the first hole, JENNY won the hole allowing her to be 2 UP at the halfway point. Coming home scores remained the same until the fourteenth hole. Instead of the hole being halved JENNY actually won the hole. JENNY was now 2 UP with four holes to play. BERNIE won the 15th hole but lost the 16th and then won the 17th hole to take the match to the final hole. JENNY was 1 UP with the final hole to be played. JENNY was able to halve the final hole and claim the match 1 UP.
4. JACOB PEMBLE (7) Vs SONYA LENART (41). JACOB only had to concede two strokes on sixteen holes and one stroke on the remaining two holes. On the outward run the scores remained the same. On the run home the only result to change was on the eleventh hole. Originally the hole was halved but in fact JACOB won the hole but did not really affect the final result. SONYA won the match 5 and 4.
6. PETER O’BRIEN (27) Vs 2. MICHAEL LENART (19). The only difference on the outward nine was that PETER din not lose the fourth hole but the hole was halved. MICHAEL led 3 UP at the turn. Results on the run home did not alter with MICHAEL winning the last hole and taking the match 1 UP.
