ALEXANDER CHARLES CHATILLON 'ALEX' was one of the original golfers who regularly attended 180 games from a possible 217 games from 13 . 05 . 67 to 28 . 11 . 87 before retiring to the central coast. He did visit and play two games after his retirement. He was regular Friday evening drinker in the original upstairs bar at DOOLEYS. ALEC had just turned 94 when he passed away. ALEC loved DOOLEYS and the Golf Club. He will be sadly remembered and missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

ALF McNAMARA (9th November 1928 to 4th December 2019). ALF was 91 years of age when he passed away. ALF played with the DOOLEY Golfers for 30 years from March 1974 until he retired from the game in September 2004. During those 30 years, ALF was a most regular player with DOOLEYS amassing 268 games from the 349 games played. ALF along with his wife MARGARET loved DOOLEYS. For many, many years they were regular attendees at the DOOLEYS Friday and Sunday raffles. ALF, will be sadly missed and remembered by those who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with MARGARET and her family.

The Golf Club has nominated SUE DELANEY (Club Person) and JACOB PEMBLE (Sports Person) for the 2019 awards. We wish them good luck at the Presentation Night.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The AGM was held on Wednesday evening the 22nd January. There were eighteen (18) golfers in attendance.
DENIS COLLINS, ANNA RYAN and ADAM WELTON did not stand for re-election.
DENIS will still be responsible for doing the Golf Draw’s
ANNA has admirably fulfilled the duties of Club Captain for the maximum three years and resigned in the hope of her husband being elected to the committee.
ADAM did not attend the meeting but has retained the position of Handicapper.
The executive was returned un-opposed. The committee for 2020 is:

NEW PLAYER
At the last game we welcomed a new player ANDREW WHITE. ANDREW is a son-in-law of JOHN WILLIAMSON. I assume that ANDREW enjoyed his outing with the DOOLEY golfers. He was in the winning ambrose team and won $20 and he won six (6) golf balls in the Ball Comp. Not a bad day out with the DOOLEYS. Hope he will return and become a regular golfer with us.
PERPETUAL TROPHIES
Remember the rule for eligibility for Perpetual Trophies has changed.
The new rule is that the eight (8) qualifying games can be accumulated from the December games the previous year until the November game in the current year.
This means that the 8 qualifying games can now be qualified in 12 games
WE NEED NEW PLAYERS
Your wife, your husband, your partner, your children, your grandchildren, your friends or whoever they may be we would like you to bring them along and they will be most welcomed to join the DOOLEYS Social Golf Club.

Today we are at the Sefton Golf Course. All holes are a par 3. This is a Golf course that is very suitable for those with a high handicap.
It is a 2 Ball Best Ball.
All individual scores are to be recorded.
One Golf Card will be issued for each pair.
Prizes will be awarded for the best 2 BBB scores.
Scores for the ALF Marney Trophy will be awarded on the Individual Stableford points scored.
THE DOOLEYS SOCIAL GOLF CLUB
To be a member of the DOOLEYS Social Golf Club a player must be a member of DOOLEYS Lidcombe Catholic Club. A visitor can only play 3 games before they must join DOOLEYS ($11 for 4 years or $5 for 1 year. Membership of the Golf Club is $5 per year.
The children and grandchildren of members of DOOLEYS are eligible to play with the Golf Club.
On joining the Golf Club a player is expected to procure a Golf Shirt ($15) and a Golf Badge ($5).
A fixture card will be provided on joining. Nominations for a golf day close on the Sunday evening prior to the game. Failure to cancel your nomination by this time will incur a penalty of $5 IRRESPECTIVE of any reason. The penalty is to cover the booking and catering costs.
COUNTRY CHAMPION - WEEKEND of GOLF
To be eligible to win this trophy you must be a financial member of the Golf Club and you must have attended three games before the Country Championship is played at the end of September. Prize is having your name engraved upon the Shield and pick of the table.
Visitors and other players are eligible for the Visitors Trophy which is a selection from the prizes on the table.
If two or more juniors are present they will play for the Juniors Trophy.
COMMITTEE MEETING
The first committee meeting for the new committee will be held on Monday evening the 24th February at 7.30 pm in the club rooms at DOOLEYS Lidcombe.
TREASURER’S TROPHY
Next month is the qualifying game for this trophy.
The qualifiers must be available to play on:
28TH March AUBURN 6.54 am
18th April WOODVILLE 6.48 am
25th July FAIRFIELD 7.00 am
24th October AUBURN 6.26 am
7th November WOODVILLE 6.00 am
If you are not available to play on any of these days please let TERRY know and you will not be included among the qualifiers.

To be eligible to win any major trophy a player must be a member or an eligible junior member of the Golf Club. They must attend eight (8) games between December 2019 and November 2020 (12) games.

GOLF DINNER
The Golf Dinner will be held on Saturday 30th May at DOOLEYS, Waterview. The meal will be similar to previous years consisting of platters of Bread, Entrees and Mains. This year we may replace one course with a Dessert course. In previous years attendees have enjoyed the evening, have had sufficient food and have voted that we continue to have the Golf Dinner each year.

The Treasurer’s report revealed that we made a profit of $615 due to the success of the raffle and no expenditure on Golf Balls and Golf Shirts and Badges. Despite increases in Green Fees at AUBURN $33 per game, it has been decided to maintain the Playing Fees at $40 per game. It is hoped that this can be retained for this year.

At the AGM after some discussion it was decided that NTP’s and D & P’s as we formerly played will now be contested by all players on twelve (12) holes i.e., par 3’s and par 4’s. It is something NEW so let us try it and see how we go.
