What a miserable day to play golf. Regular intermittent showers were the order of the day. Twenty five players indicated they would attend. GARRY MITCHELL turned up but did not play due to eyer surgery. CHARLIE SCULLY was smart and stayed home. Four (4) players namely DENIS COLLINS, AMANDA De HAAS, JENNY DELANEY and PETER KENNEDY were soaked and pulled out after six (6) holes. KEVIN CAVANAGH and DENIS SMITH were saturated after nine holes and went home to dry out. COL BENTLEY attempted to play the tenth hole but pulled out because of exhaustion. The remaining sixteen (16) players battled on despite the inclement weather and completed their round of golf.

Thanks to Margaret Bentley, Rick Clifford and Terry Kenny for giving up their Saturday morning helping with the cooking, drinks and running of the day.

A Happy and Healthy New Year to one and all. We hope we will be able to get a full year in this year. This will be my final edition of DIVOTS as intend to resign from the Golf Club in the very near future. Age is catching up, health is deteriorating, having difficulty walking, have had surgery to both shoulders and I am physically unfit to continue playing golf. I have been with the DOOLEYS Social Golf Club since its inception in 1967 when other Catholic Clubs wished to form the Associated Catholic Clubs and play each other in five games each year. The LCWC Golf Club was formed, and we began by playing 10 games each year. Who will be the next author of Divots, I do not know.
